About the SmartSleep project

The SmartSleep project aims to document the health effects of night-time smartphone use amongst the adult Danish population. Through a combination of studies, the project contributes knowledge about the behavioral mechanisms that may lead to night-time smartphone use and it documents the potential health effects of regular night-time smartphone use. Our research uses an innovative combination of high-resolution sensor-driven smartphone data, comprehensive clinical and biological measures, questionnaire data, and health information from Danish population registers.

The project aims to generate important new insights into the potential health effects adults may experience in relation to sleep that is regularly interrupted by smartphone use. These insights are expected to provide a strong evidence base for guidelines to reduce sleep interruptions related to night-time smartphone use.
